Funs of gorilla trekking
The mountain gorilla is an endangered
species as their total population is only about 1004 individuals divided into
two populations. One population lives in Bwindi national park in Uganda while
the other lives in the Virunga mountains of Rwanda which are divided into three
parks. These three parks are Mgahinga gorilla national park, volcanoes national
park, and Virunga national park.
As most of the populations of gorillas
are found in these two places, a large number of tourists visit here. The
gorilla trekking is also famous here.
How do gorillas look like?
The male gorillas are generally about
two times the size of the female gorillas and are about six feet tall. In the
case of weight also, the males are about seven times heavier than the females.
That is why the male gorillas are also called the silver backs.
Which season is best for gorilla trekking?
You can do the tracking of a gorilla
in Uganda and Rwanda in almost any season of the year. But a large number of
tourists visit for gorilla trekking in the months of June to September and also
from December to February as this is a damp season for gorillas to stay in
national parks. The only difference between offseason and on season gorilla
trekking is that the offseason gives you cheaper permit price.
Comparison of Uganda and Rwanda
This is a tricky question for people
visiting to see mountain gorillas as these two countries are the only one
having enough population of gorillas living in the forests. The gorilla
tracking in Bwindi national park Uganda is more economically favorable
as Uganda has more wildlife as compared to Rwanda. In terms of cost, the cost
of gorilla trekking in Rwanda can be up to 1500 USD while the same costs only
up to 600 USD in Uganda.
How much will gorilla trekking cost?
The cost of gorilla trekking will
depend upon the number of people and the time period for which you want to take
gorilla safari. Roughly, the cheapest trekking may cost you up to 1000$. And if
you want to have a luxury gorilla trekking, get ready to pay up to 6000$.
Once in a while, take a long vacation
and take the fun of gorilla safari.
